Google Phishing Email Test

Recently, a Google subsidiary called Jigsaw created an excellent phishing email quiz/learning exercise. (LINK HERE). The eight-question test quickly and easily assesses your online security knowledge and teaches us techniques used in phishing.

What is Phishing? By definition, phishing is the fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers.

Why Should You Take The Test? Fraudulent data gathering has become more sophisticated over the years and all email users should understand the techniques that are being used and how to check for them. Everyone can be subject to phishing email attacks and one mistake can cause a loss of personal data. From our standpoint in the financial services industry, we want to make sure all of our clients are as educated as possible about protecting personal data. Email security is near the top of the list.

Please give the quiz a try and let us know your thoughts. The questions are quite tricky, so don’t be surprised if you learn something new!
